Cats or dogs?
Dogs are in more American homes. Cats are lower maintenance. Neither side is going to convert. Both sides, a ruling, and a sentence. Below: both sides as they'd actually put it, then the ruling The Judge gives when two people bring this one into a Settle It room.
Both sides
Dogs. They're happy to see you, they get you outside, and they'd walk into traffic for you. A cat would step over your body to reach the food bowl.
Cats. They don't need a walk at 6 a.m. in the rain, they don't bark at the mailman, and they don't need a sitter for a weekend away. Love that requires a leash is a job.
The Judge's ruling
Ruling: Hana is right that dogs are the more popular pet in the United States, and right about why: the affection is unconditional and the walks are good for you. Omar is right that a cat is the lower-cost, lower-time animal, and that most of the dog argument quietly assumes someone else is doing the 6 a.m. walk. This court has noticed that in most cat-vs-dog arguments, the dog person wants a dog and the cat person wants a cat. Neither has ever been talked out of it. The only real question is who does the work.
Sentence: Whoever wants the dog owns the morning walk, in writing, for a year. If the dog person is not willing to sign that, the cat wins by default.
